Who we Are

CameraKids is owned and run by me! My name is Andrew and I am a professional photographer as well as a fully trained classroom teacher. I have taught for over twenty years and taught photography for nearly ten years at Parkside Federation Academy in Cambridge and also at Hills Road Sixth Form College. I have two beautiful children, one of which is still at primary school age who take photographs, pose for photographs and generally get slightly swept away with the photographic tide as well!

I started CameraKids three years ago at Waterbeach Primary school and it has been growing ever since. We currently have nine other club leaders and cover most of Cambridge and the surrounding areas. Future plans include expanding further geographically and maybe doing holiday courses as well!

Meet the Team!

Rebecca. With a First Class BA (Hons) degree in photography, Rebecca specializes in Fine Art Photography and has exhibited her work in London, Cambridge, Ely and Suffolk. She continues to work as a practicing artist and is currently involved in an Arts Council funded community project studying rural lives.

Allowing children to review and critique their own work and introducing the work of famous photographers, Rebecca encourages children to invent their own style of photography and express their ideas and individuality, with an emphasis on teamwork.

My name is Thomas Wilson, I am friendly, fun, creative and extremely hardworking. I am 21 years old and have recently graduated from De Montfort University based in Leicester, achieving  a BA Hons degree in Animation Design. My degree included modules in photography and film, I particularly enjoyed turning my photos into animated clips. Although creating 3D animation was my ultimate aim, I am passionate about photography, like animation photography is a fantastic story-telling medium, it allows you to express yourself by choosing what you photograph and how you represent this. I enjoy working with children, and look forward to sharing my skills in photography; teaching the children something fun and creative that I also enjoy.

Hi my name is Leonie. I am a freelance photographer and have been so for the past 6 years. I shoot for many businesses and do family and childrens portraits. I have even had the privilege of having my work shown in Elle magazine online and The Times. Photography is my passion and I love the creativity of it. Showing the kids how to use and express themselves through the camera will be very exciting!  With my love of photography, coupled with exuberant imaginative children, I think we are going to have so much fun in the Camera Kids sessions!

Hello, my name is Katie Jade. I am 22 years old and I specialise in fashion and portrait photography. I have a BA Hons Degree in Photography and I have worked for such clients as London Fashion Weekend, NUA Fashion Degree Show, High Voltage Hair Studios, Lisa Angel, Sugar and Vice and many more.

I am very friendly, enthusiastic and endlessly creative. I really enjoy working with children and I have extensive experience in both working with children and professional photography. I can’t wait to intertwine the two.

Hi, my name is Hannah and I am 22.  I love working with children and have experience in schools, youth groups and for the past year I have been a leader of an After School Club.  I also have a keen interest in photography, and love nothing more than taking my camera out, and I have been told that I am a ‘happy snapper’ on many occasions! I am really looking forward to combining my two passions.

Hello my name is Alex, and I am 22 years old. I have worked with children for most my working career from schools, to church and holiday camps. I enjoy every minute! My love for photography has grown over the years, I like to experiment to create weird and wonderful pictures. I am very excited to start working at CameraKids.”

My name is Chris, I’m a professional photographer who lives just outside of Bedford. I have loved photography all my life and mostly take pictures of people. Having the knowledge to make my camera do what I want it to, playing with light and knowing what to leave in and out of a photo takes quite a bit of practice; I have enjoyed studying and am looking forward to sharing these skills.
